Port Pirie Line

Port Pirie was at the western end of the Peterborough Division, some 68 miles (109 km) from Peterborough.  Pirie was the nearest port to Peterborough and the site of the silver-lead smelter. It was the regular supply of ore from Broken Hill to Port Pirie that made the Peterborough Division one of the most profitable of the SAR.
