This image shows the oil which was spilt when the locomotive rolled. The patch of oil could be seen for years until the arrival of the standard gauge.

The heaped dirt by the cabin in this image was scooped up by the locomotive as it slid along the ground after derailing. Harry was dug out of the dirt under the cabin, still sitting in his seat.

The locomotive was lifted through the use of jacks and packing with wooden sleepers. It was a laborious process as there was no heavy lifiting machinery available in those days.

The original Paratoo railway station building. Note the ‘starter’ signal levers at each end of the building. The starters were removed in 1924. As trains became longer in later years of the line, signalmen used the ladder (as seen) for hand signals to the locomotive crew performing shunting duties.
